Fishcutters was rather rough and ready restaurant in it's original incarnation. Fishing boats came by the canal and sold fish to the ice house that made them available to the public, raw on one side of the room or cooked on the other. There were a few tables and eventually they got a license to sell beer and wine. Then the owner wanted to sell the place so it got tarted up and it languished for a long while as the boom had passed and the place sat empty. After months of rehabilitation the place is back and we've eaten there twice. My wife pronounces it good. She spent the last several years continuing to lament Fishcutters disappearance almost every time we drove by and she has watched the construction work progress slowly. Then one day we got to have dinner there and she finally tasted her favorite BLT sandwich once again. BLT stands for Bacon Lobster and Tomato and it was quite well known in the Lower Keys. She pronounced it as good as ever.
The new Wharf is clean bright and cheerful and seems to be supporting some metal artist as fish sculptures are everywhere. Meat is on the menu, which is focused on fish as one might expect. We went for Sunday brunch, a rare treat for us, because we wanted a chance to hang out with Robert and Dolly who live close by. Benedicts seemed to be the thing to order for brunch so we did. I had shrimp:

Summerland Wharf
It's been a very long time coming but the old Fishcutters Restaurant has finally returned and is now called The Wharf, on Summerland Key:

Mr Conchscooter:
I don't mind telling you that you are killing me with those delicious photos. I am an egg Bennedict connosieur, shrimp, lobster, ham or any other variety. We went to Newfoundland to have lobster and there was not one lobster to be found. They were all in Nova Scotia. I also fancy ham & egg omlettes. All of my favourite food were being devoured by the 4 of you.
We have to go to the Wharf for sure.
luv

You did a pretty nice job of taking me round Point Roberts. I've always wanted to see that place.
Mr Conchscooter:
Thank you. I tried to take a few more than normal and I have lots more not posted. There is basically one road all around the Peninsula but not all of it is around the water. Then there are 2 or 3 roads which transverse horizontally. The road along the border was closed for security reasons. In the old days they used to come right up to the border, but now they end with barricades.
Someone asked about those Canadian residents lounging on their sundeck. No, they are just ordinary people, not border guards and they are able to just walk back and forth on a whim.
Did I say that I love eggs benedicts whether they be topped with shrimp, lobster or crab, it doesn't matter which variety

There is something about hollandaise sauce that bothers me. You guys can gladly have my share.
Give me meat and potatoes and I am happy.
Dear Mr. Conch:
Does the second button on the toilet sound an alarm in the restaurant that the person in the stall isn't saving enough water?
Your pictures are making me think of fresh oysters at a joint not too far from here. Such is the power of suggestion. Of course, me eating a dozen oysters is like pulling the cadmium rods out of the reactor.
I am refraining from political writing for a while, as it has me crazy. I need to write some funny stuff to make a living and nothing is coming to mind.

It it just me or have two button toilets been around for years? Are they only in Europe? The new hotel replacing El Rancho (Silver Palms) says it will have movement activated timer light switches which I have also used for years in European hotels. Riepe on oysters, boskoot on hollandaise and cpa1234 on white bread. what a shower, the mind boggles.
As i recall wasnt Fishcutters, spelled with a "Z"??? I stand by my statement bacon is the perfect food!! I just had some cheese..with bacon in it ..and ..bacon made it better!!!I had not even considered bacon and lobster..sounds great! Blue Heaven offers a lobster benedict with a key lime hollandise...its ( ignore the pun) heavenly!!!
