Waiting

Layne is getting stressed and I’m trying not to let any of it get to me, it’s how couples cope, life on a teeter totter, one is up and the other down. I’m hoping the alternator can get repaired, if not one of us flies back to the States where we’ll have a replacement waiting. I hope it doesn’t come to that of course but here we are.

Our ferry ride was supposed to take place on November 29th but the sole ship that sails back and forth is apparently harbor bound in Puerto Natales by a massive storm and the sailing schedule has been knocked about by the delay. Our departure is now set for December 2nd. Good for us I guess.

Of course the prospect of meeting such a storm at sea doesn’t bring out my inner Webb Chiles, not does it give me Walter Mitty fantasies of taking to the southern ocean in a life raft but Patagonia is pretty hard core when it comes to weather and we must persevere.

Ushuaia is the goal and we shall reach it one way or another.

Our cabin is comfortable and Christoph and Monica, our neighbors are good people but GANNET2 is my home. We were talking yesterday and we promised to meet up with our vehicles somewhere south of here when we are all back on the road.

Sometimes overlanding is waiting.
