Hello Gustav

September is the height of hurricane season in the Northern hemisphere and thus it comes as no surprise that Tropical Storm Gustav is drenching Hispaniola and aiming to hit Cuba next with heavy winds and rains. Maybe Florida will get hit by next weekend which puts me in mind of a bumper sticker that made the rounds in the 2004/2005 seasons of endless parades of hurricanes: Another weekend, Another hurricane.
.
It's way too early to know what is going to happen or where Gustav is going to head, so for now we'll bag the speculation and get on with enjoying the Keys. Later, much later I'll drag those bloody hurricane shutters out, again, and stuff everything in the shed, again, and debate the merits of evacuation, again.
Another summer, another hurricane season.

Its the ones in December that get my goat. At least these are in their season. But ugh is about right.

What model Canon do you use?.. if you don't mind my asking. I find your photo's exceptional.

SX100 point and shoot with 10x optical zoom. I think I paid around $250 at Best Buy in Santa Fe, it replaced a smaller Nikon that was dying owing to my abuse.I like the Canon very much as it is easy to use in auto or manual shutter speed settings. I carry my camera all the time, because it is compact enough, and take pictures of everything and some come out.And thanks to digital I can check the quality there and then. Others I find less successful but they illustrate the essay so in they go! It's hard to go wrong in a place with bright sunshine and lots of color.Plus I dress neta and tidy and unobtrusive when I go downtown picture taking so I look like a star struck visitor.

The ones in December are just continual proof of God's sense of humor (albeit a bit sadistic at times)... at least he's got one (which is more than I can say for many of his creations).
