Pure Triumph RIP

Well, this sucks. It wasn't enough that my Triumph dealer was 170 miles away, they have apparently succumbed to a gruesome economy and have closed their doors. Now my nearest option is Triumph of Palm Beach 32 more miles up the Turnpike. And Pure Triumph did good work too. The Triumphrat gossip website says Palm Beach Triumph also does good work, thank goodness, and they have taken over Pure Triumph's Internet sales. I hope their Pompano shop, a Victory dealership, only 11 miles north of Pure Triumph, takes over the Triumph dealership.
I am still intrigued to know how precisely how our economy is going to rebound when jobs are still being lost in the midst of the highest unemployment numbers in decades. And then the radio voices say 70% of the US economy is driven by consumers.

Mr Conchscooter:

The first thought that ran through my mind was that you managed to get your Bonneville repaired before they changed hands. I wonder if absorbed the "old" staff into their operations, then at least you would be conversing with the same people.

I just couldn't imagine having deal with a dealer 200 miles away. In Canadian talk it would be like having to take my bike from Vancouver to some where half way between Seattle and Portland.

These are the realities of living in the Lower Keys. Honda cars and Suzuki motorcycles are for sale in Key Largo at mile marker 100. Even the Harley dealership in Key West just closed when he retired as did Mamjoe's repair shop in Marathon. The Key West Honda motorcycle dealer is awful and the Yamaha dealer is okay but very limited- small scooters, and lots of cruisers and a coiple of crotch rockets.
I cakle dtriumph USA and got a call back(!) and he promised they were looking to find a strong south florida dealership to take over. I hope for the best. According to one former employee who emailed me some former employees at pure triumph have new homes in Palm Beach Triumph. They were all as shocked as anyone apparently. I will really miss young Hannah the service manager. She was the ultimate pro.

Ah, so good to see the economy is over the recession, as per the recent news reports...

Sorry you'll have to drive farther.

It's a miracle! A recovery without employment!

Bummer to have to ride 200 miles to a dealer. It helps put my own 30 mile ride into perspective.

That's a source of huge frustration to me. In Oregon our government is controlled by the Dems. They "borrowed" 176 million dollars for a stimulus package that was supposed to create jobs. When all was said and done, they created 3326 jobs. Each job lasted an average of 35 hours. Yee freakin' haw.

A lot of talk, a lot of chest pounding. The result? More socialism. I think the Dems don't want people to be able to work. I think they want everyone dependent on the government. Gives them more power.

Florida is run by Republicans. We have a gay closeted governor (who is quite capable) quitting to run for US Senate with his multi-millionaire wife at his side. he married her when he was on the short list for Vice President ( he lost out to the cretin Palin!). Florida has better than 10 percent unemployment, weak schools, fouled environment and prisons stuffed with people.
I am an immigrant and i will never ever vote Republican to support a party that blames every social ill in this country on migrants. I am sick of Republicans treating politics as the Evangelical church in Congress and I don't want to hear any more how Government is fucking up our country. Government is responsible to we the people. Corporations aren't and they push the Republican party at every turn becuase the Republican party is their lackey. Turn off the TV and think for yourselves.
I think I'm going to stop taking comments on my blog. What with cocks and government rants I'm losing my Diary's way.

Conch,

Re servicing. It gets harder with every passing day to find good service. Have people generally lost their sense of pride in what they do, do you think? Is everyone a burgeoning Hollywood actor/actress or up and coming rap star, just biding their time in a crummy job until their "big break" comes along? I've all but given up on contractors. One of my (2) furnaces died the other day, and with a few minutes diagnostic work I determined that a transformer coil had a broken contact inside. A further 5 minutes work with a soldering iron put it back in service once again. Had I called a service tech it would be $300 minimum if he knew how to diagnose the problem at all. Likely he would not, and since the furnace is 15 years young, he would have tried to sell me on a replacement unit, at a much higher cost. We should all work towards being more self-reliant I think, another vanishing human trait.

Re ixnaying the comments, I hope not. They are a surprisingly good addition to your stories. Most comment sections are full of shockingly stupid babble, but yours seems to have attracted a following of very interesting/entertaining folks. Perhaps just dust off the Delete button and use it more often on the Trolls.

Keep the shiny side up.

Sorry to hear about Pure Triumph. Why not try heading over to the west coast, Triumph of Fort Myers is where I live and take my Daytona. They are the best.
