Perhaps it's time and even though my generation grew up in the shadow of the great conflict the youngsters coming up behind us didn't. Nowadays it's a tourist attraction, the USS Arizona.
They made a lot of noise, probably for the last time, about D-Day this year. It just seemed a shame to let Pearl Harbor Day drift by without even a mention in the newspaper.

I had a client who was in the Pacific during WW2. He is now deceased, but he got madder than hell at me one time when I told him I had bought a Japanese car. There aren't as many veterans from that war anymore.
Dear Sir:
My Uncle Bill is a retired Deputy Fire Chief from Jersey City. He walkred from the beaches of Normandy to Berlin, and then from one frozen spot in Korea to another. My uncle said something that I found amazing.
And I quote, "The poor guys at Pearl Harbor got shelled for an hour. I got shelled dozens of times where I was left half-deaf from the concussion, and with dirt blown in my ears, nose, and mouth.
"There were times when the German 88's would lift you in the air and hurl you to the ground. And that happened to me a lot more than once. So I'm a little tired of hearing about the guys at Pearl Harbor."
My uncle earned the right to his opinion. But he is of the generation tha could do anything.

I was just thinking the same thing yesterday morning as I hung my American flag out. No mention in the news and nothing in the local paper.
