Blogspot has done it again unhappily. They have made sudden unannounced changes to their blogging system and I fear my posts may look a little odd for a while until I can somehow master their changes. Photos are now faster to download supposedly though they are integrated into the text HTML so they have a habit of sliding across the page disconcertingly. I have also not found out how to set my own defaults in typescript and font so...it will be a learning curve for tired old me. (Indeed upon publishing the foregoing paragraph appears in the wrong typescript and I am unable to change it! Good job Blogger people!)
(I saw this motorcycle with a bizarre flashing white light on the back and took a picture for the hell of it. Keeping pictures centered in the text has become next to impossible with this new system. Very frustrating).
I have tried to keep my layout consistent and simple to read, not least because I like it that way. I find it hard on my eyes to read blogs that use white print on a black or dark blue background. Masthead photos that change all the time confuse the eye as well. Ask yourself why the New York Times, the paper of record hasn't changed it's venerable masthead in living memory...so I have found a color combination that is restful to my eyes, and a simple layout which is easy to read with larger pictures centered in the middle of the text.
If this layout changes believe me, it will be an error and not my wish as I am conservative in all things, except the political as it were, and prefer they stay the same on my small corner of the web. Fonts keep reverting to default, as does text style and centering is impossible to maintain consistently and pictures slide around the page at will. I am very unhappy. If all else fails I will continue to keep this page pop-up free, ad free, and commercial free as much as I am able.
Taking pictures and writing my daily diary, a place for me to reflect and store my memories is supposed to be a daily meditation, a relaxation as it were. Blogger always does find new and annoying ways of making it harder. But I shall soldier on, with apologies in advance for screw ups to come.

To be honest with you..i couldent care less, different size fonts et al..i wouldent care if you had to do this on the back of discarded hamburger wrappers...as long as i get my Conchscooter fix!! You'll figure all this out..!

WordPress.com doesn't pull stuff like this, and as far as I can tell, the editing tool is much more user-friendly. They've got tools that will allow you to import a blog from just about any other platform. You might look into it...

Glad I'm not the only one having problems. The last two days, every time I uploaded a picture with a vertical orientation, Blogger would switch it to horizontal. To get it vertical, I have to go through Picasa's new editing software, which takes a long-time to load on my slow, non-US connection.
Frustrating.
Poor Mr Conchscooter:
I don't wish to speak too soon but I have NOT noticed any changes, but I haven't posted for a couple of days. Perhaps during the weekend I will find your frustration. I am interested to see if Jack is equally frustrated. Small print is here on my aged eyes so perhaps you could change to Senior's font
thanks in advance

It happened within the last 24 hours and I predict they will either sort it all out or go back to the way it was. I hate these young turks at blogger who keep changing things for no good reason.
Dear Conch:
Leslie (my hot squeeze, who you will meet in about two weeks) has been pissing and moaning about blogspot for a week. I will attempt a new blog tomorrow. If I must face radical changes (without intuitive application) you will easily hear me say "fuck" from here.
I was very distracted when you called today. I was on deadline with a number of cash-generating assignments, and experiencing some bizarre technical difficulties. Leslie later told me that if our dogs were parrots, the only things they would say are "This fucking thing," and "Fuck this piece of shit."
The tech was here two days in a row, and replaced the router with an Apple "Extreme" unit. He also waded in and de-fragged my Mac, which he claims I torture through disorganization. It is working so much better now. The two visits only cost $500 fucking dollars. But I cannot tolerate an iota of operating difference in any of the house units (four of them — all Macs).
This is the first time he's had to come here in a year. It would help if I wasn't so useless around computers. And Bobskoot is right... I will rampage if I have trouble setting up tomorrow's blog.
Fondest regards,

PS:
I'm sure the purpose of that white flashing light is to improve visibility in some regard. It is a lot brighter than the running light on that HD. The 42 white LEDs should make a big difference, but I thought they would be brighter. I suspect they are at half-power in this shot, as the light has turned green, and the rider may not have the brakes on. Did they flash continously?
JPR/TW
they flashed like a fucking school bus. A new level of Hardley Ableson dorkery.A white light flashing at the back? all the time??
I am having a shitty night in dispatch. I hope that helps you in your travails. It's like herding hedgehogs with all the officers chasing the sexy calls and me left trying to figure out how to cover the report calls. At least I get paid to scratch my head here. Two dispatchers for the entire city on a Friday night. Grr. How high does unemployment have to get until we can fill all our positions?
I noticed a change in the upload but not anything else, but then again, I didn't really look. I usually upload any pictures, then switch to edit html to clean out all the junk that seems to get put in there automatically.
I would think that a flashing white light facing rearwards would be illegal except maybe for emergency vehicles....
Richard
I think the light must be illegal too, but who knows.
I found the button to restore the old download format which they say will be gone "soon." I don't link my blog- I don't know how. I am fearful of Facebook (which I can't access from work)as it seems to get people into trouble. All I want is to download my pictures and write my paragraphs. Blogger is supposed to be simple.
Yep, I'm too fond of Blogger. The complaints are too many to list. I'm hoping to make the change to a .com soon. It'll be better for me and for my readers.
