Ramrod Key 3

I received the suggestion that flowers make good subjects. Well I happen to know this is a frangipani and here it is. I thought it looked quite good.So much so I found another bloom and took a picture of that. However i am sure I can't write two hundred words on a fragipani. I do have two of them at my house, one bought in a pot and given to my wife and I as a gift. Tim's red frangipani is flourishing on our deck.My other frangipani, a yellow one like this, was a branch given to us by Kathy who left it under the house while we were away. I stuck in a pot of soil, Therese came by and planted some perennials around it and that one too is doing really well. However frangipani is known for being easy to grow. Cheyenne is such an easy dog to live with I wonder people are lining up around the block to get dogs from the pound. She has no issues, she loves being cherished and with all the activity she gets she has no incentive to get involved with the sad trapped dogs we meet along the way. Hot and panting and entirely happy. The car was a long way off and that tongue got longer as we stumped back. She passed out back home.

ahh - to be the first to leave a comment...

Frangipani are IT. Guam is covered with them; they grow as weeds, like the royal poinciana which are referred to as flame trees here.

They are taken for granted, like a maple in Michigan - part of the landscape. Yet - they are exotic reminders this is not the land we grew up in.

Side note - there's a 22' Morgan at the Sailing Club...If I were to buy it - could it find a home at your dock with the proviso that the dock owner could use it at will?

Curious,

When I lived in the keys, I always picked up spare branches to plant whenever I saw them. My yard was full of Frangipani (Plumeria) trees. In spring when they started blooming, I could always be found with one planted right under my nose happily sniffing until there was nothing left but a wilted mess.

Franko "Tuna Face" Frangipani was a gangster in Hoboken.

Roberta- the great benefit of frangipani for a black fingered soul like me is that it gorows anywhere. One of mine was a branch dropped off by a friend and which I stuck in a tub of dirt. Now it has bunches of yellow flowers...
Chuck- a sailboat in winter would be great and if the morgan has a center board it would float at most tides. I cannot imagine how much a container from Agana to Key West would cost.

umm...it's at the Key West Sailing Club - right at the end of Garrison Bight opposite the Yacht Club.

Yes - not only does it have a centerboard, it's on a trailer with an 8 HP mariner; three sets of sails. I'll check specs shortly.
