David is my FedEx guy and he brings me all the stuff that makes our lives better or more complex, depending upon your point of view. He's been in the keys since 1992 and he seems to enjoy it. He always has a cheerful word or a big smile when he stops by.
It's starting to look like vacation time in the Keys and David mentioned he's taking two weeks off next month. London and Venice are on the itinerary and he's never been to either before. How to summarize either or both in a brief encounter? I said London is the city where anything goes anytime and see all the famous sites you can. Venice I said is like Key West with worse parking problems- boat docks are strictly for residents only. He laughed, but as he put it it's a hell of a lot of cultural variety in the space of two weeks. Two extremes indeed.
I'm looking forward already to hearing his impressions when he gets back. Meanwhile my dog, not terribly keen to get too far from the air conditioning on this gray muggy afternoon peered down from the deck at our transaction.
David brought me my wife's latest thoughtful gift to encourage me to keep blogging further afield. A first generation iPad which has become affordable ($300 delivered I think with one year warranty) and I hope will be useful. I am not very technically inclined but with wireless capability only I think it will prove to be useful. We are slow consumers as we had spent a year pondering the wisdom of this purchase even after I saw my first iPad that a colleague bought immediately after they came out. Hmm, I thought, that could be handy. And waited to think it through.
Well we shall see if I can master the intricacies of Apple's computing systems. Heaven help me. Hmm... www.itunes.com/download ...where the hell is that?

My main complaint on using the iPad with Blogger is the inability to upload photos directly using the web interface. If I'm away from my computer, I use the email Blogger post support to send pictures to a new, unpublished post. I then go in and edit the html for the blog post. The "Compose" window doesn't work. You could also use the blogger app though I'm not sure of the name since I don't use it. Tried it but found it easier to just edit the html directly...
Good luck.
Oh god. This sort of comment scares the shit out of me. The iPad works, though. Eh!
Yes, the iPad web browser works fine with Blogger to edit and view posts. Just, since Apple doesn't give you access to the file system, you can't select pictures to upload. Uploading them through email works fine...
I'll be interested to see what you think of this thing. I'm technologically inclined, and am not inclined to drink the Apple (Registered Trademark) Koolaid. Maybe my life would be amazing with that gadget but I resist.
I saw a group of kids walking together (watching a movie) with an ipad just the other day. I wondered if they ever talked.
Ah, well. If you're as rigid as I am, you're in no danger of changing your ways, I suspect.

I've resisted the temptation to buy an iPad only because they don't multitask. If I were to pay the amount of money that tablet PCs cost these days, I like to be able to run more than one application at once.
My idea is to make it possible to blog from anywhere there is wi-fi, though I have to figure out how to download pictures from the iPad to blogger...
I don't buy stuff on a whim. I had a specific purpose in mind and my wife totally supports my efforts with this blog. I appreciate my good fortune that way. Now I have to learn to use this too to blog!
I bought the Pheebs a V 2.0 for her birthday - she likes it; it works as an internet portal in Guam.
I'd like to use the camera and the access for blogging also - will have to research this.
From the airport,
Chuck.
