Saturday it rained pretty much all day as a cold front swept the Western Caribbean. We read of cold winds in the Florida Keys as well as temperatures plummeting in Veracruz on the coast 85 miles away. We walked a little between showers and we took coffee at the Eiffel building in town, a snack served piecemeal in the oddest way, first my hot cappuccino then Layne’s cold coffee then finally the warmed “biscuits” huge baked pastries served with butter and strawberry jam. We ate as stuff was delivered. Then we slept and watched TV before walking Rusty in the rain in the evening when I snagged some pictures in the drizzle.
Me with my Lumix Lx100ii the camera I usually use on the streets. Note the long sleeved shirt! A 65 degree day and a 50 degree night leads to decisions to dress warmly in this family. I think visiting Alaska by van would be dreary for sun worshipers like us. Suggestions to one day take a cruise seem like a good idea to us.
We found the covered city market and Layne walked through by herself as they didn’t want Rusty inside. He and I ambled around in the drizzle.
It was cold and damp but Rusty the former stray no longer fears rain as he has somewhere to come home to and I rather like that even though I have to walk him in the rain! We went out together, the tree of us for an evening stroll and to allow Rusty to lay his habitual eggs.
Sandwiches and fruit for lunch:
Our hotel with a laundry conveniently located across the street. We took advantage.
Walk at dusk:
While Layne picked up the laundry I watched an SUV backing out of our hotel. I got GANNET2 in there! Cool, huh?
Pozole (hominy soup) for dinner delivered from the restaurant attached to the hotel:
Rusty is perfect but the owner of this lovely hotel has a cat that won’t stop moaning loudly in violation of hotel rules. Layne complained and the staff looked embarrassed as she pointed out the violation- they can’t discipline their boss! Animals don’t get enough love in Mexico. It’s the worst part of traveling here.

Great post, great photos! Thank you!
Not at all.
I enjoyed the pictures so much, such a beautiful town.
The store partially named El Rey del Ahorra - "The King of Savings" is funny to me. I find irony in that clique marketing is cross cultural.
Great pictures. Be well.
