Moving Along

A park ranger walked in and told us overnight camping wasn’t allowed in this spot, firm but polite and apologetic telling me we could use the volcano campground five kilometers (3miles) up the road.  Apparently he didn’t spot Rusty heavily camouflaged sleeping among the giant green leaves next to GANNET2 because park campgrounds are closed to pets.
The great thing about living in a house on wheels is you can move it with ease. So we did and we set off back toward Chaitén. We had a campground in mind, but it wasn’t going to be a straight shot.
Then back onto pavement which brought its own problems.
We were at the front of a line of cars waiting for the goat play to end, but we did have to let sleeping goats lie.
An approximation of our route from
close by the volcano trail to a beach paid campground.

We stopped at what I thought was a village called Santa Barbara. It turned out to be three homes and a gorgeous waterfront.
It could have been the central California coast with bright sunshine sparkling the waters and a cool onshore breeze.
This creek could make an excellent swimming hole were it warmer as I like not cold swimming.
Someone got creative building a trimaran.
I liked this place.

Have a picnic and grill some meat Patagonia style.

Bathroom building with a no camping sign. We knew that as iOverlander had a note pointing out the no camping rule.
This house looked totally California is to me. There was a sign offering electronic device charging to beach goers. There must be a fee involved but that wasn’t listed. Opportunistic capitalism…good man.
No camping no way no how no tents tarps or vehicles overnight. No trash etc… but no mention banning dogs. Good.
On our way out we passed the only did campground here on top of the hill.
Back on the road.
This was our chosen campground at $18 a night.
We got a spot by the water.
Layne mixed some rum drinks with our Havana Club.

Rusty was happy aboard with his bed and his kibbles so I went out by myself before sunset with my camera.
