Social Butterfly

I have heard it said that extroverts recharge their batteries by being sociable and introverts don’t. It sounds simplistic but perhaps that’s the effect of having Ivan and Paula share our Airbnb in Buenos Aires. I am being outgoing far beyond my capacity  but I am glad they are here, good company good memories and good cheer.

We went to the Segreto tango club, a place that felt vaguely illicit like a speakeasy and drank wine and watched melodramatic performances of the melodramatic art form that is Argentina’s own. It was spectacular. Layne caught them at it on the street when she went to the San Telmo market.
We have taken a walking tour of the Palermo district.

And we have eaten food and drunk wine in between conversations and Key West reminiscences.

Malbec at the tango.
Layne at San Telmo market:

We went on a food tour including a typical cheese and onion pizza:
Empanada:
More wine:
Convivial lunch:
Grilled provoleta cheese, Argentina’s version of provolone:

And a Spanish tortilla, an egg and cheese pie:

Choripan - sausage sandwich- with aioli and melted provoleta. Food an Argentine might eat during a soccer game on tv or to get past a hangover or any time thru feel like it. It was excellent.
Gin and maté, Paula looking skeptically as Kate our guide pours:
Heaps of chocolate:
And of course ice cream in millions of flavors.

Rusty loves apartment living. Paula ran to greet him but he took his time responding.

He has the run of our bedroom and patio when we are out on the town. Temperatures are around 70 degrees so he is very comfortable and we don’t need to close doors as there is no need for air conditioning. He can sleep on our bed but as usual he prefers cold tiles. Weird dog .
My grandmother Nera Marmora sang at the Teatro Colon in 1917 with Enrico Caruso and we’re taking a tour today after we bought tickets Saturday.

Oh don’t we love 911. It’s what’s paying for today.

Call if you see Abbie.

A ferreteria is a hardware store. I call them ferret shops.
