61 Degrees

I crawled out of bed at noon today and checked the thermostat. 61 degrees! (16C). @#$%^! My feet are cold, I've lost the will to live and I have to be at the college in an hour to take a class. Tonight it is supposed to get down to 49 degrees which considering the historic low was 41, recorded in the early 20th century means we are close to settinga record. It must be freezing Up North!

Complaints, complaints, complaints. We can't get out of bed. Our joints are frozen. Our windshields are frozen, there was ice on the road on the commute to work. Oh to dream of 16c, that would be summer heat up here. I can't imagine that you don't know how lucky you are. Want to trade lives for a month or so . . . ?

The last time it hit 41 was in 1981 and I was living on Elgin Ln. No heat just blankets jackets and socks. It felt cold inside and out. All we had were blankets, jackets and socks. If felt really cold. Space heaters were a wonderful thing back then. Now here in Charlotte it got to 10 last night. We have heat but I would rather be cold there than here.

41! That's uncivilized! Come up and stay at the house. It was a blistery 11f this morning, but it has warmed up to 26f. Isn't Global Warming a great thing? I think we should all stop and send Al Gore $100.

I am getting old and have become a master at repeating myself.

Sorry,

My toes are cold! 38F this morning (I cannot do the conversion like Conch does to C). 20F in land tonight in Labelle is the prediction.

I may have to go buy some long pants if it gets any colder up here in St. Pete.

This just sucks, frankly. The thing about cold in the Keys is that somehow it feels colder than the thermometer reads. Besides we live in Florida to get away from this crap and enjoy heat and stuff. At least it's sunny.

Dear Sir:

If it was 61 degrees here today, I'd be wearing mesh, drinking cold beer, and sitting on the pillion to get my face above the windscreen. It was 11 degrees here the other night, and I opened a window.

A buddy of mine rode his RT home through three inches of snow the other night. I'll post the story in a couple of days.

Fondest regards,
Jack

I know what you mean about 61° feeling colder in KW than it would in, say, upstate NY (or "this frozen hell," as I now know it). However: the thermometer in my car was stuck on 5° for several days. My pipes froze on Sunday, even tho they're in my "heated" basement/garage. I don't even want to remove my layers of thermal clothing and wool socks to shower, nor exit my car to buy groceries. I would give damn near anything to be in KW right now, even w the clouds and chill. If it was 61° here, I'd be out riding my mare.
