The salt ponds of Ramrod Key are 25 miles from Key West but a million miles from the noise and the crowds of the city.
People sometimes express surprise that I don't want to live in the coolest neighborhood in the Keys- Old Town. I'd rather be here, even of an evening when the sunset is just average and the temperature is a chilly 70degrees.

Lovely sunset pictures! I don't blame you at all for not wanting to live on Key West. I think you have a nice place to live where you do.
I manage to feel guilty about enjoying my 25-mile commute when I could be cycling across town.

try cycling up here where we have hills that are the size of mountains. You only have a 6 ft rise somewhere. If it were flat I would be using pedal power instead of infernal combustion.
No sunset for us, the sun has already set by the time we leave work.

Old Town is great to visit but I don't think I would enjoy being on display for tourists constantly. It appears by your photos you have the best of both worlds, a beautiful view in a quiet location and the opportunity to wander Key West daily.
Thanks for your blog. It keeps me warm in the Denver winters and helps me look forward to my next trip to the Keys.

I don't find it so warm at the moment but it is quite tolerable during the day. It seems that we are headed towardas another cold winter if it is snowing already.
