New Header

I am of the old school of journalism where the header doesn't change as it is the identifier, the signpost in a confused and messy web world. I liked the old header, but my Vespa GTS is long gone not to be replaced and too many people got freaked out by the lovely picture I had of the Key West cemetery with all its associations of mortality and decay and death. So, change is good right? I am not so sure but every critical person loves sunsets and I like my Bonneville. I thought about putting Cheyenne up there but she is in every essay almost and when she dies it would be too painful to face my blog so there it is, she gets a postage stamp sized picture in the profile. Bonneville+Sunset+Key West Dairy. Can I go now and do something useful with this lovely sunny day?

Nice picture. I understand about Cheyenne, but just a little one? She's such a big part of your life and your blog.

It's about time you changed your underwear . . .

I like sunsets more than cemeteries

Tomorrow Bob a discussion of your desire to switch a perfectly good wee strom for a potent symbol of yamaha virility- the anti GS. I make the case that in the 21st century enjoying what you have is good. Death comes to us all whether we enjoy cemeteries or not.

While the new picture is nice I don't think you've quick captured the essence of the bike, you, and Key West yet. I'm sure you'll find one. Even blind squirrels find acorns every now and again.

Can't believe you don't have a Vespa. Can't believe I don't have a Triumph either. Will be taking possession of a TigerXC for awhile when the weather clears. It looks like the kind of bike I could love...

Steve:
Do I have to put a palm tree in it? Most of the back country down here is mangroves and salt ponds.
I do get to ride my wife's ET4 from time to time when she lets me. D'you think Bronson would have come with a BMW? He was supposed to ride a Triumph originally but the Triumph dealer was too tight to let him use a couple for the show. The original dude ride a Trumpet. Think about it.

I think you should have a Header contest and the congregation can all submit ideas....mine to follow shortly after I chew some tobacco and have a late morning toddy to get my creative juices suitably flowing.

Fine. Come one, come all.
No tits no ass no Cheyenne.
Palm trees. Ocean blah blah blah.
I just got tired of hearing about tombstones.
I thought this one did fine. The reality of the Lower Keys which is where I happen to live. Scrubby little mangroves, salt ponds, my motorcycle and a fine sunset.
Sigh. I don't even remember where the old header is stored. Even if I wanted it back.

I must say I really like the new header, however I miss the old one..It was a great shot of the cemetary and of the vespa..I have no hang ups of mortality..the old one was better. That being said I would still read your blog even if you decided to use a picture of your ass as a header...of course you would need a fish eye lens to capture all of it,but I'd still read it..!!!

Almost thought I had the wrong page when the blog came up with the new picture!

Reading about your garden and sunny skies as we are awaiting a blizzard is quite unfair. At least I have amaryllis, orchids and violets blooming inside. No veggies tho. The news has been prepping us for a blizzard in the top blizzards in the history of Chicago. We will see how accurate the forecasters are. Just started to snow!

Mr Conchscooter:

I am not forsaking my beloved 'Strom for the Yami. I only just mentioned that I really, really like it. My 'Strom is just fine, enough power for me and only half the price of the Tenere.

When I first clicked on KW Diary I thought I had the wrong place. Like Steve said, your header photo does NOT do justice to your bike and where you live. I was disappointed in the photo but I didn't want to be the first to criticize it. But the master with the Vespa from PA has spoken and I am in agreement. Send Steve the airfair and he can commission a stunning photo for you. He can make anything look good, even your Trumpet, even you . . . for that matter

I liked the cemetary. I can't wait to get back down there and go thru it again. Thanks for the picture of Cheyenne! Keep the picture the way it is, it is your blog.:0)

Lovely picture and Cheyenne as your icon is quite appropriate!!! It wouldn't be the same around here without all the grumbling so I am glad to see that quite a few aren't happy with it. :)

The font.... It's the font that bothers me the most about the new header I think. Hell it may be the same font as the old header, it just bothers me in this setting.

Also, I resent the "no tits, no ass" comment. The way you couch it, it all just seems ...well...perverse, like Reipe and I are just a couple of old, deviant drunks.

I say we all submit personal photos to you, then you can have a goofy "header of the week" situation. You know, people in front of the southernmost marker sporting Magnum PI shirts and the like... "This week's header submitted by Margie and Cliff of Chittenango, NY. Congrats Margie and Cliff, please enjoy this official KWD coffee mug emblazoned with the site's motto 'No tits, No ass since 2007'".

There is no way I am putting the southernmost point on my header. Cliche riddled this blog may be but not that much.
"No tits no ass since 2007" has a certain ring to it. I had an aquaintance define a pervert ot me over lunch last week. Someone who breaks the moral codes of society without any guilt. Sounds like blame and riepe.

Two thumbs up for the new masthead! While the header/masthead shouldn't change willy/nilly, freshening it once in a while is a good move. My only suggestion would be to swap the columns, so posts are directly under the header and links/followers/etc. are to the right. More easily viewed on small screens like those on mobile phones and other iThingies...

Orin, that's actually a good idea but with this template I can't. On the other hand I like the layout. I am not fond of dark backgrounds as they make the type hard to read and I don't like borders and stuff because they seem fussy.
I like the header picture actually. The Bonneville doesn't need to be detailed, most people who rerad this blog are after the Keys, some are after cheyenne and a few get stuck with cocasional motorcycle posts.
I don't expect to change much for another three or four years. I just got too many gorans about the cemetery- and the GTS just provoked puzzlement. It went about six months into the blog and its been Bonneville ever since.
I am not very technological so blogger makes things simple for an idiot like me.
