Boca Chica Beach

Turn south off the Overseas Highway at the Shell/Circle K at Mile Marker Ten in Big Coppitt. Drive to the end of the road. If you have forgotten your insect repellent turn around and go home.
Cheyenne has kindly agreed to enjoy this beach after several years of turning her nose up at it. These pictures were taken over two recent visits. No words are needed to enjoy the views.

Nice beach though, you say, there are a lot of mosquitoes. Does that suggest that KW doesn't get much wind from the ocean?

Mosee ums seem to thrive in sand and mangroves and sea breezes aren't always strong enough to blow them away. There are a lot of mangroves on navy base property behind the beach.

If there is a perk, and I mean a real perk to living in Colorado, it is the near absence of bugs compared to much of the county. When people here complain about bugs I merely smile because where I grew up in Oklahoma it wasn't unusual to walk out onto the porch in June and have the porch completely covered in June bugs. And mosquitoes were everywhere. Here, it's a small annoyance by comparison. Cheers!

Great shots. I think I can learn to suffer on that beach.

I worked for two years on the South Shore of LI. The green flies there can rip you apart faster than any mosquito. You learn how to combat them using Avon Skin-So-Soft. Not a cure all but it helps.
