Cocoplum Beach

I did my bit, but I might as well not have bothered. My fellow Floridians chose to re-elect the HCA Medicare billing fraud king as governor of the Sunshine State. And his homophobe side kick for Attorney General. And medical marijuana failed to pass.

Instead I went to the beach in Marathon. And lovely it was too. Warm on the face, cool breeze on the back and lots of sunshine. What's not to love about Florida? The politics? Oh well....

Going to the beach for a day to relax sounds like a perfect solution. In London there's no such thing :)

At least you have sunshine.

Here in Oregon recreational marijuana passed, but labeling GMOs did not. So my joke is all those people that are going to get the munchies apparently don't care what they eat. Facepalm.

I feel your pain and confusion. But we will see what two or four years bring. I sort of almost wish the Scotts and Cruzes--et al--of the nation could be fully in charge so that the electorate could see plain and simple the danger of their policies (or lack of them). Look at the economy of Kansas with Brownback as gov, also home of the Koch Bros, even though it looks like he survived. (Go figure.)

Obama and the Dems get no credit for cleaning and attempting to clean up the domestic and foreign policy messes the previous (and many current) Republicans made for us. I guess there's a pattern there since FDR's time... Though certainly not all Democrats' motives are pure.

Some of this is the result of industrial-strength propaganda and emotional pandering, I suppose. (Fox News comes to mind, though there are plenty of others.) And of money=power. Along with stupid is stupid, stupid. One could go on.

Anyway, all in all, it's no doomsday. But it's also not--despite your fortunate ability to do so--a day at the beach.

I'm licking my political wounds in Boston as well.... Very disappointing....

Good comments today. It was a good day at the beach and I have to say Marathon has the best strands in the Keys. If you want beaches in the Keys Marathon is far ahead of Key West.
