A Day Off

Well, if all goes to plan we should be away to the great north road by Friday afternoon bound for the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.  For Thursday I offered to hang out with Rusty so Kathy and Layne could have the day together in Sedona. It was hot and Rusty was content laying in the shade in the carport. I asked myself why bother to drive around?

But it’s my nature and I thought one last visit to the state park might not be bad especially as they have a dump station so I could clean the toilet prior to disposing of it at the transfer station.

We wandered under the trees for a bit until thunder started rumbling closer and closer. Rusty took refuge in his home under the air conditioner.

It didn’t rain properly and the anglers on the shoreline carried on tranquilly casting into the pond.Rusty and I napped together  .
I was getting a hankering to go for a walk with my camera (and my dog). Rusty loves city walks so I decided to drive 20 minutes up a hill to Jerome the formerly Wicked City. I was hoping to find a few pictures.

We visited Jerome previously so I don’t need to write about this little town but I’m just going to post some pictures for you to enjoy.
Lots of signs around town.

“Asylum”?

The restaurant then.

There’s a 1923 Pierce that sold originally for $7,000. You do get a built in compressor to air up your flat tires, of which you got many in those days.

The distant red rocks of Sedona are always on the horizon.

Firefighters training behind the fire station. Hot work.

And so home to dinner.

One last night moochdocking.

Please note:

The next couple of weeks will see us wandering the relatively unpopulated desert regions from the Grand Canyon to the mountain towns of southwest Colorado so internet service may not be very dependable. When we went off line in Mexicos more remote areas there was consternation. I have no idea what we will find in this large swathe of desert and mountain but reliable internet seems unlikely. No need to be concerned. Thank you.

Rusty looks quite happy with your choice for a walking location!
