Positive

I have Covid.
I got a call from Layne in California who passed on the good news that she and a friend in Santa Cruz have it. I feel like I have a low grade fever now and I am staying isolated in my splendid isolated converted farmhouse.

Covid apparently has also brought out a ferocious eczema in me  that I last suffered from thirty years ago and I suspect it has been let loose by the Covid auto immune demons. I’d include a photo of my ravaged thighs and arms and stomach but you too might get ill.

Before jumping to conclusions it’s worth noting Layne has it in Santa Cruz and never got on a plane. I wonder how many people I infected and that thought makes me even sicker. Meanwhile no touring Italy for me.

I have another test scheduled with the village pharmacist next week meanwhile I take my pills. She did say, after looking at the test results I appear to be on the downslope of the infection. I hope that is true.
It’s not deadly at least if you are fully vaccinated and I suppose it’s little more than a nuisance for most people but if I hadn’t got it I’d be happier.

“Vaccinations kill” that graffiti I saw a few days ago after I got off the plane rings with irony now.
Take care of yourselves; you have nothing to prove.

Sorry for your getting Covid. Also, sorry that you will not be able to see your homeland as you wanted. Kind of ironic that after all the travels you have done that you get it now. Get well

Hang in there Michael. At least you have a nice place to stay while recovering.

Been very busy with our life here in Alaska decluttering and cleaning. I haven’t paid much attention to what other people are doing. I see on FB that you are in Italy, and you have Covid! I’m so sorry about the Covid part! Italy is on our bucket list. I had no idea you grew up there. We leave Alaska today, driving south through Canada with the Ural! I hope you recover quickly!

Oh, my friend, I am so sorry. As Doug said, it is a bit ironic that you should get COVID now.
I hope your recovery is quick and easy.

We got COVID on our last cruise. They quarantined us for 5 days and then we were clear. I hope you are as fortunate. The views of Italy that you have shared are great! If you can do more that would be great, if you aren't up for it, save your strength and just get better. Best wishes!

Everyone's back to living normal lives like the last 3 years didn't happen.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you all. I’m
Hoping I should be fine by Thursday! That’s when the pharmacist said I take another test. Fingers crossed.

So sorry! I've heard of a few others who got it after flying. We've all really let our guard down. It feels weird every time I walk into a store here in the US without a mask. I hope you feel better soon. And Layne too!

Sorry to hear this. I hope you and Layne and the friend all get through it quickly and as comfortably as possible.

Ahh…the folly of attempting to avoid a virus that is now endemic and that everyone will sooner or later become infected with, and 99.888% will recover from.

Curious on the "fully vaccinated" statement. I am over 65 and just had my yearly Medicare physical and my doctor told me fully vaccinated is 6 shots(for my age), with number 7 coming in the fall. I was kind of taken back at this as I am at 4 and stopped after getting COVID, figuring I am immune for a period of time. And if you go to the CDC site it is quite confusing on what fully vaccinated means. Oh well.....

I am fully vaccinated inasmuch as I have taken every shot offered. Parse that as you like. It is Tuesday morning here and I am feeling much much better. I went for a walk with photos to follow. I attribute rapid recovery to the vaccine and I am grateful it was made available as quickly as it was. I am glad I got my first dose of the sickness now, as a mere inconvenience. How quickly we forget how ghastly the first stages of the outbreak were.

You can be as vaccinated as you care to be and still get COVID. And no matter how vaccinated the people around you are—on an airplane, for example—they could still get it from you. So, as the Buddhists say, do as you feel.

Vaccination is designed to reduce symptoms. There has always been confusion about this. I know lots of people like to get medical advice from Facebook YouTube and QAnon. I’m old fashioned and stick with science. I’m fully vaccinated for tropical travel too with all the diphtheria tetanus and all the other stuff. I’ve been vaccinated all my life and as polio comes back I’m
glad I’m vaccinated.

That may be true. Unfortunately, we were told initially—by everyone—that you’d be completely immune (and couldn’t pass it to others) if you were vaccinated.

And here I was, hoping you and I both were still in the running for never gotten it. I am so sorry you were ill. I REIGN SUPREME!!!!
