Photos

They line up outside this office and I’m not at all sure what it’s about but it’s got to be some government document office. Imagine doing this to update your drivers license. Then ask yourself how bad the bureaucracy at home really is.

I find it odd that popcorn is popular on the street but it is.

We have a healthy and tasty menu. Peruvian cooking is exceptional.

The fruit truck was just passing through.

Webb sent me a message saying everyone in Arequipa is on the phone. I can’t argue with that.

Dogs on the street aren’t necessarily street dogs. People let them out and they spend the day mooching around with their buddies and go home in the evening. It’s not a bad life.

There’s a museum in Arequipa where they store a couple of Inca mummies, virgins who were sacrificed on a volcano 500 years ago. They were exposed by retreating ice and put on display. Except they use models of the real thing and they don’t allow photos. I called my museum expedition off. Look up Juanita Arequipa if you want more information.

I like Arequipa but I’m looking forward to the transmission being fixed. I went by the shop and they said they had all the parts to rebuild it. I hope they all fit, I can’t bring myself to hope that this is going to be so easy, a week’s wait and he can order all the parts and they arrive. It sounds miraculous. I feel very lucky.

Arequipa’s nice but a road trip to test everything would be fun. Fingers crossed.

Back in the 1950's, as a teenagers, I worked on lots of car engines. I even took a shot at a 4 speed transmission, but never an automatic transmission. Your transmission I would never touch. Glad there are people that can fix it, best of luck.
