I have spent some time lately renewing my acquaintance with various attractions in town. They call it a thank you to locals and as the point is to get us to attract visitors as well I figured I'd mention it before the month runs out. Historic Tours of America, Ed Swift's outfit is doing the offering, not surprising as I find he is fond of his home town despite it's unappreciative residents, and it includes the Little White House, The Conch Train and the various attractions at the end of Whitehead Street. It is great fun being a tourist at home; wear the sticker with pride.

I guess that includes the lower Keys, and Key West. What about the Middle Keys, and Upper Keys? Or the whole 33940 zip?

Always wondered how the locals got a local discount... figured it was a secret handshake or something. ;-)
By the time you get the new certified birth certificate, proof of residence, proof of SSN, proof of Keys Energy and all of your money together for a new local license, your hands will shake, too.
"d'yu do a locals discount?" is the magic phrase my wife taught me.
Sometimes the operators as k leading questuons like"where do you work?" a trick question that leads some to admit they work ...locally.
I'm planning to not work for a few months when I move down... hope that won't wreck my "local" cred.
the best local discount (and the only one we take) is in places where they know us.
