You couldn't invent neighborhoods like Key West's in a planned community.
And who want to? Can you imagine owning a cranky Victorian house with odd corners and bizarre plumbing and then turning it into apartments? Look at all those mailboxes...there's someone paying to live behind each box.
But in Key West tenants shrug and gladly take any rooms they can somehow afford. Everyone knows you could rent a proper apartment in Dullsville Up North for the same money, but where would the fun be?
Key West is all corners and angles and palm fronds.
Lovely to look at, awkward to live in.
